GET Effective® Phyto Tomato is a natural dietary supplement formulated to promote beauty from within. The core active profile features colourless carotenoids—specifically phytoene and phytofluene—derived from a specialized, non-coloured tomato variety.

White tomato contains phytoene and phytofluene, colourless carotenoids also known to lighten and even the skin tone by inhibition of melanin synthesis, UVA and UVB protection, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities. The various effects working in concert, provide a state-of-the-art product for (photo)protection and lighter, more even toned skin. The consumer gains multi-level benefits for healthier, well protected and younger looking skin all in one, natural and unique product. phytoene and phytofluene, a colourless carotenoid also known to lighten and balance the skin tone by inhibition of melanin synthesis, UVA and UVB protection, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities.

Phytoene and phytofluene, also named colourless carotenoids, are the first carotenoid precursors in in the biosynthetic pathway of other carotenoids. These molecules are colourless in the visible range the biosynthetic pathway of other carotenoids. These molecules are colourless in the visible range; hence absorb light in the UV range only. The colourless carotenoids are found in most carotenogenic organisms including microorganisms, algae, fungi and plants where they are used as protection against excessive radiation and environmental stress. These molecules have effective and benefiting activities enhancing skin anti-inflammatory capacity, protecting against UV and oxidative damage leading to pre-mature aging and other disorders as well as stabilizing and boosting the effect of other molecules such as sun screens and their activity. Effects on reduction of skin pigmentation were demonstration related to direct reduction of melanin synthesis, protection against UV and oxidation damage and inflammation.

Biologically, carotenoids are an important group of compounds with more than 700 members. Carotenoids are found widely throughout nature, but they are synthesized de novo only by plants, algae, fungi, and bacteria, where they can aid in the absorption of light and the capture of additional energy, which helps neutralize tissue-damaging free radicals. Chemically, carotenoids are isoprenoid, C-40 molecules that are either linear or cyclized at one or both ends of the molecule. The chemical structure determines their physicochemical properties and their biological activities.

Many dietary carotenoids, both with and without pro-vitamin A activity, are found in the blood and tissues of humans.
(1). Carotenoids, especially β-carotene and lycopene, were used as a treatment against photosensitization as early as 1964
(2). Since then, a vast number of studies have shown that carotenoids act as anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-mutagenic agents. Carotenoids are also believed to have the potential to inhibit certain cardiovascular diseases and cancer. In addition, many carotenoids show various beneficial immunological effects. Thus, carotenoids are of interest for protective applications against premature aging and age-related disorders due to oxidative damage and stress. Unfortunately, most carotenoids are sensitive to light, a property that considerably limits their use and shortens the shelf life of products that contain them
(3). In addition, almost all carotenoids have a distinctive visible colour, which limits their utility for cosmetic and some food applications. In contrast to all other carotenoids, phytoene and phytofluene, the first carotenoid precursors in the biosynthetic pathway of other carotenoids, are colourless (or alternatively, lacking visible colour) and absorb light in the UV range only. Phytoene has been shown to be anti-carcinogenic in the mouse skin cancer model
(4). and experiments performed with phytoene-producing transgenic mice suggest that phytoene may play a role in cell-to-cell communication
(5). It is important to note that dietary phytoene and phytofluene are accumulated in human skin
(6). The accumulation of these colourless carotenoids can potentially protect the skin by several mechanisms: acting as UV absorbers, as antioxidants, as anti-inflammatory. The distribution of phytoene and phytofluene in human serum, prostate, and skin suggests that phytoene and phytofluene may be responsible for the carotenoid protective effects observed in beauty and skin applications.

Ascorbyl Palmitate, a water soluble Vitamin C is also known as the best antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, which can lead to oxidative stress and premature aging of cells. Vitamin C also acts as a natural antihistamine to reduce the severity of cold symptoms. It can therefore help the body to increase the absorption of actives and support immune function.

D-alpha-tocopherol, a water soluble Vitamin E, one of the most powerful antioxidants known as "Beautification vitamin" helps maintain normal, healthy skin, aids in the maintenance or improvement of general well-being, and assists in the maintenance of normal, healthy immune function and resistance to mild infection. Vitamin E in this formula helps to maintain the stability of the actives so that they will not be oxidized and thus loses its activity.

Ubidecarenone, CoQ10, is a fat-soluble vitamin or vitamin-like substance that is also a potent antioxidant. As a strong antioxidant, CoQ10 is extremely important in neutralize free radicals however its most important function is to help create energy. CoEnzymes as a group are cofactors essential for a large number of enzymatic reactions within the body. CoQ10 is the cofactor for at least three very important enzymes used within the mitochondria of the cell. The mitochondria are essentially the battery of the cell, where the energy of the cell is produced which is in turn needed by other cellular functions.

Grape seed have been heralded for their medicinal and nutritional value for thousands of years. Grape seeds contain natural bioflavonoid called oligomeric procyanidins (commonly known as OPCs), which helps strengthen and protect cell membranes from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Catechins, components of grape seed, help reducing allergic responses by inhibiting enzymes innovated in the formation of histamine. Grape seed OPC extract provides cardiovascular protection by preventing oxidation of lipoproteins, making them less likely to stick to blood-vessel walls; it also makes the linings of the arteries more resistant to damage and helps control excessive clotting.

Phytoceramides is a type of lipid made of botanical sphingosine and fatty acid — constitute about 50% of the intercellular stratum corneum lipids. These are the lipids between the cells of the top layer of the epidermis. Ceramides play a role in brain and nervous system development but are also important in maintaining healthy skin. They create a barrier that helps prevent moisture loss, keeping skin hydrated, plump, and supple. The barrier also protects the skin from harmful irritants, bacteria, and other environmental toxins.
